Everyone wants great content for their brand, but how do you get it? These are our top ten tips for making creative content not only great, but successful:
Firstly, whatever content it is that you’re making and putting out there, make it consistent with your brand’s image. Following up a great branded video with an irrelevant blog post doesn’t present a clear image of who you are to your customers, so make sure everything you post is relevant to what you’re all about.
Whatever business you’re in, consider who you’re writing for. Always keep the customer in mind and remember they are human. Even if you have a corporate image, you can still be professional and write in way that makes someone want to read what you’ve said.
Following on from number 2, it’s important to be excited by your own content. If you find it boring, you can guarantee that your audience will too. Research if it’s been done before and then think how you can do it differently, don’t just make it anyway. One piece of original content goes a lot further than multiple pieces that have been done a million times before.
Make those social videos square. Research found that square videos received 30-35% more views and 80-100% increase in engagement. Why? On mobile, square video takes up 78% more space on a person’s newsfeed. Make. Them. Square!
It is important to show your audience on social media that you understand what they like. Posting other relevant content and news that will interest shows them this and also is a great way of showing that you’re engaged with the current topics of the industry.
Most people don’t go anywhere without their phone. We now have continuous access to them – great! Not so great if half your content is missed off the screen when they look at it. It’s not enough just to have a strategy anymore. You need a mobile one too or most of your content won’t succeed. Everything you make needs to be optimised for mobile and work across multiple platforms.
So, you’re creating regular content and getting it out there… Problem is, nobody’s looking at it. At this point, you need to take a look at what you may be doing wrong, rather than keep making it.
